Citizens For Responsible Government Supports:
  • Downtown Chapel Hill Revitalization
    • Increase residential population downtown via new residential development
    • Increase office space and daytime employees
    • Implement streetscape improvements
    • Improve safety via better lighting and police presence
    • Maintain a clean, attractive, landscaped downtown
    • Improve directional signage for the public parking system and other destinations of importance
    • Work cooperatively with UNC for the redevelopment of University Square

  • Expansion of the non-residential tax base
    • Encourage attractive office and retail development and redevelopment
    • Facilitate the mixed-use redevelopment of existing community (e.g. University Mall) and neighborhood (e.g. Timberlyne) centers
    • Improve transit, pedestrian, and bicycle access to these centers

  • Expansion of Chapel Hill Transit system to serve all residents

  • Creation of a regional transit system

  • Expansion of non-motorized transportation options and systems

  • Infill residential development and redevelopment

  • Workforce and affordable housing
    • Adopt inclusionary affordable and workforce housing standards for all development
    • Increase permitted densities and floor areas to create economic conditions that facilitate creation of workforce and affordable housing units by the private sector.

  • Improve the development review and approval process
    • Shorten and focus the development review process
    • Establish fiscal and transit impact analysis elements
